Ray High School3

As a parent of a student here I can say this is a great school. They are true to tradition! Also congrats to a great principal, Cissy Perez, she is principal of the year for Texas! She's a great principal, very polite, friendly, professional, and it's obvious she really cares about the students at Ray. The atmosphere of the school is nice, parents and students are welcomed with open arms. All of the teachers are great as well! We have had only one unpleasant experience with a teacher, Stacy Gonzalez, Tex-Ann Director and English teacher. She was the rudest woman I've ever met. Other than that this school is great. Also, they have senior mentors for freshman students. Absolutely recommend this school!!

Most teachers at this school are unhappy; they are treated as highly disposable and not as professionals. They are blamed for everything, no matter how hard they try or care; the ones who get by are the ones who stopped caring. The learning environment is in decay as classes are huge in core subjects and teachers are not supported in discipline. Many teachers in standard classes will find their classes with 50%+ special ed. Most of the teachers are becoming ill due to the high-level of stress in an at-risk environment where there is little support and little teamwork. Due to 3+ years of poor TAKS performance, the focus of this school has become drill, drill, drill students on TAKS questions. Generally, new teachers are not given support, guidance, nor mentoring. Most senior staff are just counting the days to retirement and newer staff are moving on after burn-out.

I am so dissapointed in this school. The principal was suppose to be a star, but is far from it. She is all talk, no action. She is all about her. What a mess!

True, W.B.Ray has had it's share of hardships, but it is amazingly on its way up, and has gotten there in so many areas. Administration and dedicated teachers lead the reasons for its' sucess. Those that are there in the day to day business of the school care and make a difference. It has great attributes and is awesome.
